Here are some things I'm excited about reading online, for free! Of course all my selections are music related, but these sites have books on every topic, including novels.
From Internet Archive I'm enjoying the Music Lovers Encyclopedia (1903)
From Project Gutenburg I'm excited about starting On Conducting: A Treatise on Style in the Execution of Classical Music by Richard Wagner
From Open Library I found this interesting thing: Dwight's Journal of Music (1855)
I have to be honest, I don't really enjoy reading from my computer. Some of these sites have the option of saving as a PDF and opening on a tablet or kindle. I am going to try to save a bunch to my iPad.
What are you going to read about next?
Ok, this is AWESOME. I'm going to have to remember that you posted about these websites! I'm not big on reading online, either, but sometimes it's nice to be able to access things you want to read in the moment you want them. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not reading about a topic, but I'm reading novels...I do read some other things, like I'm always going back to "Teaching with Love and Logic", but I am taking a class and the required reading is "Teaching with Your Strengths". I get to retake the StengthsQuest! Ha. I will also be reading "Classroom Spaces That Work". It's the reading for a class I wanted to take that isn't offered this term. I figured I could read the book and learn the content without earning the credits! :)
As far as novels, I have been reading through "The American Family Portrait Series" by Jack Cavanaugh. It's a series that follows the Morgan family throughout U.S. history. I love historical fiction, especially when it's not overly gory or full of filthy language and topics. This series has everything I love about historical fiction, PLUS it's a Christian series! :) I'm in between books in the series right now, so I am starting "The Book Thief". It was recommended to me by a friend. I trust her taste, so I'm hoping it's a good one!
Whew. I didn't realize my comment would be quite this long when I started it...
I love historical fiction! I will look those up! We just found an amazon gift card that we forgot about (was it from you? lol). I'm looking for some good books to get... would be interested in your recommendations!
