Taking a break from posting pictures of Brazil!
I'm all about QUICK and SIMPLE hair. I don't like to spend a lot of time "getting ready" in the morning. I'd rather sleep in. I decided I need to get out of my rut and attempt some cute hair styles! This one is SO easy. From start to finish it took me about... 3 minutes.
I recently started watching the BBC's Robin Hood series and I saw a hairstyle on Marian that I wanted to copy. It was super easy! This is a great style for girls with curly or straight hair!
"Romantic Medieval Hair"
1. It helps if you already have curly hair. Otherwise you need to curl your hair. Tighter curls would work better, I think. You can always loosen them later.
2. Gather your hair into a ponytail at the back of your head. (Optional: Tease the hair at the crown for more volume.)
3. Grab pieces of the ponytail and tuck them into the elastic so that none of the elastic is showing. You can use bobby pins to keep them in place if you need to. It should look a little messy. If you have slippery hair, spray it with hair spray.
4. Put on a double head band. You can make your own by following this tutorial on A Beautiful Mess.
5. Tighten the ponytail by grabbing it on two sides and pulling. This creates somewhat of a "pouf." Pull on pieces of hair in between the headband to give a fuller appearance (if you didn't tease it to begin with).
6. Optional: Fluff or tease the curls for a more voluminous look. (I did not do that because I have a lot of hair to begin with.) You can also go back in with your curling iron and re-curl pieces that need it. Spray with hairspray if needed.
Next time, I will make the ponytail higher and pin more pieces around and above the ponytail holder to give it a thicker look. You can embellish with flowers, jeweled pins, or more ribbon. I believe it looks best a little messy.
P.S. I like this style because you can use hair that doesn't look so great to start out with. I was working with three-day-old hair in this case.
Sorry for the blur!

P.P.S. I got the dress for $5 at Walmart. :)
